Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Algo. They are written plainly on purpose. Using Algo — browsing it, holding an account, or submitting a product — means you accept them.

1. Who we are, and what Algo is

Algo is operated by Algo-rythm Digital, based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Algo is a curated discovery platform for products built by African builders. Builders list what they have made, other people try it, upvote it and comment on it. Every listing is reviewed by a human before it appears.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google. Algo has no passwords, so keep control of the email address you sign in with — anyone with access to it can access your account.

Give us a name and details that are accurate. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

3. What you submit stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you submit — your product, its description, logo, screenshots and your comments. Algo claims no ownership of your work.

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting Algo, including showing your listing in the feed, in search, in the weekly digest and on our social channels. This licence ends when the content is removed, except for copies already in archives, caches or the digest emails already sent.

You confirm you have the right to submit what you submit, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s intellectual property.

4. Review and curation

Submitting a product is a request to be listed, not a right to be listed. Every submission goes to a review queue, and we may approve or reject it at our discretion. We aim to give a reason when we reject something, and to review within a reasonable time, but we do not guarantee either.

We may also remove or unlist a product after approval — for example if it turns out to breach these terms, if the link stops working, or if it becomes harmful.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Submit anything unlawful, malicious, deceptive, or infringing. Distribute malware or link to it. Harass, threaten or abuse anyone in comments. Impersonate another person or product. Scrape or bulk-copy the platform. Interfere with the service or attempt to bypass its access controls.

Do not manipulate rankings. Upvotes are one per person per product. Creating additional accounts to upvote your own product, coordinating vote exchanges, or paying for upvotes is a breach of these terms. Ranking is the only thing Algo sells to its readers, so we treat this seriously: we may remove affected votes, unlist the product, and suspend the accounts involved.

6. The vibecoded and dev-built declaration

Every listing carries a badge saying whether it was vibecoded — built substantially with AI assistance — or dev-built. You declare this yourself when you submit.

Declare it honestly. This distinction is the reason Algo exists: it is stated openly rather than hidden, and readers rely on it being true. Neither answer is better than the other and neither affects your chances of being approved. A knowingly false declaration is a breach of these terms, and we may correct the badge, unlist the product, or suspend the account.

Where a product is genuinely a mix, declare it vibecoded if AI did a substantial share of the building. If you are unsure, ask us.

7. Other people's products

Products listed on Algo are made by third parties, not by us. Listing is not endorsement, and review is not an audit — we do not test security, verify claims, or check that a product does what it says. When you leave Algo to use someone’s product, their terms and privacy policy apply, not ours. Deal with them at your own risk.

8. Suspension, and ending your account

We may suspend or restrict an account that breaches these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Your personal details are erased, but products, comments and upvotes remain, attributed to “Deleted user”, because other people’s activity is attached to them. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is removed and what is kept.

9. Availability and disclaimers

Algo is provided “as is”. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything you submit will bring you traffic, users or customers. We may change or discontinue features.

To the fullest extent Nigerian law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or lost business opportunity. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the fullest extent Nigerian law permits.

10. Payments

Algo currently charges for nothing. Paid features — featured listings, sponsorships and waitlist unlocks — are planned but not live. When they launch, payment terms and a refund policy will be added here and any card processing will be handled by a licensed payment provider, never by Algo directly.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and for material changes we will notify account holders by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Algo after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have exclusive jurisdiction.

Before starting proceedings, please contact us — most disputes are quicker to resolve directly.
